Benefits
- Improved slip resistance: Mineral abrasive particles provide a high-friction walking surface.
- Visual hazard identification: Black/yellow stripes make steps, edges and hazardous areas easier to identify.
- Heavy-duty durability: Designed to withstand demanding foot traffic and equipment traffic.
- Reduced trip risk: Low-profile construction helps minimize the height difference created by the anti-slip material.
- Efficient installation: Pressure-sensitive adhesive simplifies application after proper surface preparation.
- Flexible sizing: Standard products and custom shapes/sizes can be used for different floor-safety requirements.

Applications
- Stair treads and stair edges
- Industrial walkways
- Factory floors
- Warehouse aisles
- Ramps and loading areas
- Entrance areas
- Platforms and elevated work areas
- Ladders and step tools
- Construction equipment
- Industrial vehicles and machinery
- Lawn equipment
- Scooters and similar equipment
- Areas requiring both anti-slip performance and visual hazard marking
For bathrooms: 613 can be considered where high traction and visual warning are required, but it is better not to position it as a universal “bathroom anti-slip tape.” For barefoot/wet-area applications such as around pools, hot tubs and locker rooms, 3M’s 310 Medium Resilient products may be more appropriate depending on the surface and use conditions.
Compatible Materials
3M 613 is designed for application to properly prepared, clean and dry surfaces. Common substrates can include:
- Painted metal
- Aluminum
- Stainless steel
- Concrete
- Cementitious surfaces
- Wood
- Rigid plastics
- Industrial flooring
- Other smooth, clean and suitably prepared hard surfaces
For porous or rough substrates, appropriate surface preparation and, where necessary, a compatible primer should be considered. Actual adhesion depends strongly on substrate condition, surface energy, cleanliness and operating environment.
Industries

- Workshops and factories
Why Choose
3M™ Safety-Walk™ 613 combines three important floor-safety functions: high-friction traction, durable mineral particles and highly visible black/yellow warning stripes.
Compared with a plain black anti-slip tape such as 3M 610, 613 adds a strong visual warning function. It is therefore particularly useful for stairs, ramps, platforms, loading areas and other locations where both slip resistance and hazard visibility are important.
Installation Guide
- Clean the surface – Remove dust, oil, grease, dirt and other contaminants.
- Dry completely – Ensure the substrate is dry before installation.
- Check the surface – The substrate should be firm, smooth enough for bonding and free from loose coatings.
- Measure and cut – Cut the tape to the required length or shape.
- Position the tape – Align the black/yellow stripe area accurately before applying pressure.
- Apply gradually – Avoid trapping air underneath the material.
- Apply firm pressure – Use a suitable hand roller to ensure good adhesive contact.
- Allow bonding time – Avoid heavy traffic or excessive moisture immediately after installation.
- Inspect the edges – Make sure edges are firmly bonded, especially in high-traffic or wet environments.
For demanding applications, substrate preparation is critical because actual service life depends on the surface, installation conditions and operating environment.
Storage
Store the product in its original packaging in a clean, dry environment away from direct sunlight and excessive heat or humidity.
For best results, maintain suitable warehouse conditions and avoid storing rolls where the adhesive or abrasive surface can become contaminated.
FAQ
Q1: What is 3M 613 anti-slip tape?
3M 613 is a General Purpose 600 Series Safety-Walk anti-slip tape with a black/yellow striped, mineral-coated, high-friction surface.
Q2: Is 3M 613 suitable for stairs?
Yes. 3M specifically lists steps and stairways among the recommended applications.
Q3: Can 3M 613 be used on ramps?
Yes. Ramps are one of the applications listed by 3M.
Q4: Is 3M 613 suitable for heavy foot traffic?
Yes. It is designed for areas with light to heavy shoe traffic and has a durable surface designed to withstand equipment traffic.
Q5: Is 3M 613 waterproof?
It has slip-resistance properties under wet conditions, but “waterproof” should not be used as a blanket product claim. Application conditions, substrate preparation and edge sealing can affect long-term performance.
Q6: What is the difference between 3M 610 and 613?
Both belong to the General Purpose 600 Series and use a mineral-coated high-friction surface. 610 is black, while 613 uses black/yellow diagonal stripes, providing an additional visual warning function.
Q7: Can 3M 613 be die-cut?
3M states that custom shapes and sizes are available, making the product suitable for customized floor-safety applications.
Q8: Is 3M 613 suitable for barefoot areas such as swimming pools?
613 is primarily a General Purpose 600 Series product for shoe traffic. For barefoot areas and around pools or hot tubs, a softer Safety-Walk product such as the 300 Series may be more appropriate depending on the application.
