Why Choose 3M™ Safety-Walk™ 310
3M™ Safety-Walk™ 310 is a strong choice when an application needs a balance between slip resistance, surface comfort and durability.
Compared with aggressive coarse anti-slip tapes, its soft, resilient surface makes it particularly suitable for barefoot environments. At the same time, its textured surface and pressure-sensitive adhesive provide practical traction for light shoe traffic.
For B2B customers, Safety-Walk materials can also be supplied in customized formats where applicable. 3M documentation indicates that custom shapes and sizes are available, making the product suitable for specialized equipment and OEM applications.
Installation Guide
1. Clean the surface
Remove dust, oil, grease, moisture and other contaminants.
2. Check the substrate
Make sure the surface is sound, clean and suitable for pressure-sensitive adhesive bonding.
3. Measure and cut
Cut the tape to the required length or shape. Avoid placing unnecessary seams in high-traffic areas.
4. Position the tape
Place the material carefully before applying firm pressure.
5. Apply pressure
Use a suitable hand roller to press the Safety-Walk material firmly onto the substrate. 3M specifically recommends its Safety-Walk Rubber Hand Roller for achieving a firm bond.
6. Inspect the edges
Make sure the edges are fully bonded and free from lifting.
7. Allow adequate bonding time
Avoid heavy traffic or aggressive cleaning immediately after installation and follow the applicable 3M installation instructions.
For areas exposed to excessive moisture or liquids, 3M also provides a Safety-Walk Edging Compound for sealing exposed edges.
Storage
- Store in the original packaging where possible.
- Keep in a clean and dry environment.
- Avoid direct sunlight.
- Protect from excessive moisture.
- Avoid contamination by oil, grease or chemicals.
- Do not store under conditions that could damage the adhesive or textured surface.
- Follow the latest 3M technical documentation for specific storage and shelf-life requirements.
FAQ
Q1: Is 3M 310 a high-friction anti-slip tape?
Yes. 3M describes the 310 surface as textured, resilient and slip-resistant, designed to provide enhanced traction. The 300 Series is also NFSI High Traction certified.
Q2: Is 3M 310 suitable for bare feet?
Yes. This is one of its key advantages. The soft-textured, resilient surface is designed for barefoot areas while also handling light shoe traffic.
Q3: Is 3M 310 the same as coarse black Safety-Walk tape?
No. 310 belongs to the Medium Resilient 300 Series, which uses a softer non-mineral textured surface. It is different from the coarse mineral-particle products in the Safety-Walk 700 Series.
Q4: Can 3M 310 be used around swimming pools?
Yes. Pool areas, hot-tub areas and locker rooms are specifically listed among the intended applications.
Q5: Can 3M 310 be used outdoors?
It can be considered for suitable outdoor applications such as boats and watercraft, but the actual application should be evaluated for substrate, moisture, UV exposure, temperature and traffic conditions.
Q6: Can 3M 310 be used on stairs?
Yes, suitable Safety-Walk products are used for steps and stair applications. The exact product should be selected according to traffic level, surface condition and whether the area is barefoot or shoe traffic.
Q7: Can 3M 310 be custom die-cut?
3M indicates that custom shapes and sizes are available for the product family. This makes it suitable for certain OEM and equipment-specific applications.
Q8: Is 3M 310 suitable for heavy industrial traffic?
It depends on the application. 310 is a medium-resilient product designed particularly for barefoot and light shoe traffic. For heavy-duty, oily or highly abrasive environments, a more aggressive Safety-Walk product may be more appropriate.
