Why Choose 3M™ Double Coated Tape 469?
3M™ 469 is specifically engineered for applications where high tack, high-temperature performance, and visible splice identification are important.
Its medium-firm acrylic adhesive provides quick stick and high initial adhesion, while the tissue carrier allows easy handling and hand tearing. The light red color provides a practical visual indication of the splice, which can be especially valuable during continuous web-processing operations.
For printing and paper converting, 3M™ 469 offers a combination of high tack, UV resistance, solvent resistance, and temperature performance that makes it well suited to demanding production environments.
Installation Guide
- Prepare the surfaces
Ensure the bonding surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, oil, grease, and other contaminants. - Prepare the tape
Cut or tear the required length of 3M™ 469. The tissue carrier is designed for easy handling. - Position the tape
Apply the tape to the designated splice or bonding area. - Apply firm pressure
Firm application pressure helps increase adhesive-to-surface contact and improve bond strength. - Complete the splice
Align the web or substrate carefully and bring the surfaces into full contact. - Check the splice
The light red tape provides visual identification of the splice, making it easier to locate during processing.
For optimum adhesion, 3M recommends clean, dry, well-unified bonding surfaces. The ideal tape application temperature is 70–100°F (21–38°C). Application to surfaces below 50°F (10°C) is not recommended because the adhesive becomes too firm to readily adhere.
Storage
Store 3M™ Double Coated Tape 469 under normal conditions of:
- Temperature: 60–80°F (16–27°C)
- Relative humidity: 40–60%
- Original packaging
- Away from direct sunlight
For best performance, 3M recommends using the product within 24 months from the date of manufacture.
