Benefits
Permanent Structural Bonding
Provides durable structural bonds that replace rivets, screws, welding, and liquid adhesives while creating a clean, seamless appearance.
Excellent Surface Compatibility
The modified acrylic adhesive provides outstanding adhesion to painted metals, powder-coated finishes, stainless steel, aluminum, glass, and many engineering plastics.
Optimized for Converting
The PCK paper liner offers excellent dimensional stability, making the tape particularly suitable for precision die-cutting, laminating, and automated manufacturing.
Outstanding Environmental Resistance
Maintains long-term performance under UV exposure, moisture, humidity, chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions.
Superior Conformability
The viscoelastic acrylic foam conforms to uneven surfaces, compensates for thermal expansion, and distributes stress evenly.
Faster Production
Pressure-sensitive adhesive provides immediate handling strength with no curing, welding, drilling, or grinding required.

Installation Guide
- Clean bonding surfaces with isopropyl alcohol (IPA).
- Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free of oil or dust.
- Apply firm, uniform pressure across the entire bonding area.
- Avoid repositioning after initial contact.
- Approximately 50% bond strength develops after 20 minutes, 90% after 24 hours, and 100% after 72 hours at room temperature.
- Perform application testing before full-scale production.
Storage
Store the tape in its original packaging.
Recommended storage conditions:
- Temperature: 16°C–27°C (60°F–80°F)
- Relative Humidity: 40%–60%
- Keep away from direct sunlight.
- Store in a cool, dry environment.
- Store rolls horizontally whenever possible.
- Use FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory management.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is 3M™ VHB™ 5952P used for?
It is used for permanent structural bonding in automotive, transportation, electronics, appliances, construction, signage, and industrial manufacturing.
How thick is 5952P?
The tape has a nominal thickness of 1.1 mm (45 mil).
What is the difference between 5952 and 5952P?
Both tapes use the same 1.1 mm modified acrylic foam and offer identical bonding performance. The main difference is the liner:
- 5952: Red polyethylene (PE) film liner
- 5952P: Polycoated Kraft Paper (PCK) liner, preferred for die-cutting, kiss-cutting, and automated converting.
Can 5952P replace rivets and screws?
Yes. It is specifically designed to replace many mechanical fasteners while reducing weight, improving appearance, and simplifying assembly.
Is 5952P suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. It offers excellent resistance to UV radiation, weathering, moisture, and temperature cycling.
What materials can it bond?
It bonds aluminum, stainless steel, galvanized steel, glass, painted metals, powder-coated surfaces, acrylic, ABS, polycarbonate, and sealed wood.
Can it be die-cut?
Yes. The PCK liner provides excellent dimensional stability for precision die-cutting, laminating, and automated converting. Guangdong Yousan offers custom die-cutting and OEM processing services.
Does it require curing time?
No. It provides immediate handling strength after pressure application, although maximum bond strength develops over approximately 72 hours.
