Benefits
Permanent Structural Bonding
Provides reliable long-term bonding that replaces mechanical fasteners while reducing assembly time and improving product appearance.
Bonds Difficult Materials
The modified acrylic adhesive bonds well to powder-coated metals, ABS, polycarbonate, acrylic, galvanized steel, and many plastics without extensive surface preparation.
Excellent Environmental Resistance
Maintains strong bonding performance under UV exposure, humidity, moisture, and outdoor weather conditions.
Vibration & Stress Absorption
The viscoelastic acrylic foam distributes stress evenly while reducing vibration and thermal expansion effects.
Waterproof Sealing
The closed-cell foam core seals against water, dust, and environmental contaminants.
Faster Manufacturing
Pressure-sensitive adhesive eliminates curing time and enables immediate handling after application.

Installation Guide
- Clean bonding surfaces with isopropyl alcohol or an approved cleaner.
- Ensure substrates are clean, dry, and free of oil or dust.
- Apply the tape using firm, even pressure.
- Avoid repositioning once the tape contacts the surface.
- Approximately 50% bond strength develops after 20 minutes, 90% after 24 hours, and 100% after 72 hours at room temperature.
- Verify adhesion through production testing before full-scale manufacturing.
Storage
Store the tape in its original packaging.
Recommended storage conditions:
- Temperature: 16°C–27°C (60°F–80°F)
- Relative Humidity: 40%–60%
- Avoid direct sunlight.
- Store in a cool, dry environment.
- Store rolls horizontally whenever possible.
- Follow FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory practices.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is 3M™ VHB™ 5925 used for?
It is used for permanent structural bonding in automotive, electronics, appliances, construction, transportation, signage, and industrial manufacturing.
How thick is 3M™ VHB™ 5925?
The tape has a nominal thickness of 0.64 mm (25 mil).
What materials can it bond?
It bonds aluminum, stainless steel, galvanized steel, glass, powder-coated metals, acrylic, polycarbonate, ABS, painted surfaces, and many plastics.
Can 5925 replace rivets and screws?
Yes. It is designed to replace many mechanical fasteners and liquid adhesives while improving appearance and reducing manufacturing costs.
Is it suitable for outdoor applications?
Yes. It offers excellent resistance to UV, weather, moisture, and many chemicals for long-term indoor and outdoor use.
How long does it take to reach full bond strength?
Approximately 50% after 20 minutes, 90% after 24 hours, and full strength after 72 hours at room temperature.
Can it be die-cut?
Yes. Guangdong Yousan provides precision slitting, laminating, die-cutting, rewinding, and custom converting services.
What is the difference between 5925 and 5952?
5925 is 0.64 mm thick and is suitable where a thinner bond line is required. 5952 uses the same modified acrylic adhesive family but is 1.1 mm thick, providing greater gap-filling capability and conformability.
