FAQ
1. What is tesa 4987?
Tesa 4987 is a 125 μm double-sided translucent non-woven tape with a tackified acrylic adhesive.
2. Is tesa 4987 suitable for foam lamination?
Yes. Tesa lists foam and rubber substrate lamination among its application fields. Foam type, surface condition and bonding requirements should be tested before production.
3. Can tesa 4987 be used for furniture mounting?
Yes. Typical applications include furniture trims, profiles and window blind components.
4. Is tesa 4987 a high-temperature tape?
It has a listed short-term temperature resistance of up to 200°C. This does not mean it is suitable for continuous high-temperature operation. The actual temperature cycle and bonding load must be evaluated.
5. Can tesa 4987 bond PP and PE?
The product has published adhesion values for PP and PE. However, these materials have relatively low surface energy, so application testing is recommended.
6. Can tesa 4987 be die-cut?
Yes. Tesa identifies good converting and die-cutting properties. The actual result depends on the die shape, liner, adhesive thickness and production process.
7. What is the difference between tesa 4987 and tesa 4943?
Tesa 4987 has a total thickness of 125 μm, while tesa 4943 has a total thickness of 100 μm. Tesa 4987 also provides different typical adhesion and temperature-resistance values. Selection should be based on the required thickness, adhesion and application conditions.
8. Can Yousan provide a tesa 4987 equivalent?
Yousan can evaluate alternative non-woven double-sided tape constructions based on the required adhesive type, thickness, substrate, application and converting specifications. Equivalence should be confirmed through technical comparison and application testing.
