Why Choose 3M™ Adhesive Transfer Tape 9379?
3M™ Adhesive Transfer Tape 9379 is a useful solution when manufacturers need a thin, flexible adhesive layer without a traditional tape carrier.
Its carrierless construction allows the adhesive to conform closely to the bonding surfaces while maintaining a low-profile finished assembly. This makes adhesive transfer tape particularly useful for lamination, flexible-material bonding and precision converting.
For converters and manufacturers, 9379 can also be supplied in slit rolls or converted into custom die-cut adhesive components, helping integrate adhesive application directly into automated or semi-automated assembly processes.
Installation Guide
1. Prepare the Surface
Clean the bonding surfaces and remove dust, oil, grease and other contaminants.
2. Cut or Convert the Tape
Cut the tape to the required dimensions or use a custom die-cut component.
3. Apply the First Side
Remove the release liner and apply the exposed adhesive to the first substrate.
4. Apply Pressure
Use firm and uniform pressure across the bonding area to maximize adhesive contact.
5. Remove the Remaining Liner
Carefully remove the liner from the opposite side.
6. Position the Second Substrate
Align the mating material accurately before making full contact.
7. Apply Pressure
Press the assembly firmly to ensure intimate contact between the adhesive and substrate.
8. Allow Bond Development
Allow sufficient dwell time for the adhesive to develop its final bond strength before exposing the assembly to demanding loads.
Storage
For optimum performance:
- Store in the original packaging
- Keep in a clean and dry environment
- Protect from direct sunlight
- Avoid excessive heat and humidity
- Keep away from dust, oil and chemical contamination
- Do not unnecessarily expose the adhesive to the environment
- Follow the latest 3M documentation for the applicable shelf-life and storage requirements
FAQ
What is 3M™ Adhesive Transfer Tape 9379?
3M™ Adhesive Transfer Tape 9379 is a carrierless pressure-sensitive adhesive tape designed for bonding and laminating a variety of materials.
Does 3M™ 9379 have a carrier?
No. Adhesive transfer tape is a carrierless construction in which the adhesive is coated onto a release liner.
Is 3M 9379 a double-sided tape?
Functionally, adhesive transfer tape can provide bonding on both sides after the liner is removed. However, its technical classification is Adhesive Transfer Tape, rather than a conventional double-coated tape with a PET, tissue or foam carrier.
Can 9379 be die-cut?
Yes. Adhesive transfer tapes can be converted into custom shapes for applications requiring precise adhesive placement.
Can 9379 be used for foam bonding?
It can be considered for foam lamination and bonding applications, but the specific foam and application conditions should be tested before production.
Can 9379 bond plastic?
It can be used for plastic bonding applications depending on the specific plastic, surface energy and application conditions. Low-surface-energy plastics may require a specifically formulated adhesive.
Is 9379 suitable for industrial applications?
Yes. Its carrierless construction makes adhesive transfer tape suitable for industrial bonding, laminating and converting applications.
Can 9379 be laminated?
Yes. Adhesive transfer tape is commonly used for laminating flexible materials, films, foams, fabrics and other substrates.
What is the difference between adhesive transfer tape and double-coated tape?
An adhesive transfer tape has adhesive coated directly onto a release liner and does not have a carrier. A double-coated tape contains a carrier such as PET, tissue, foam or nonwoven material between two adhesive layers.
