Why Choose 3M™ Adhesive Transfer Tape 9775WL+?
The primary advantage of 3M™ 9775WL+ is its combination of 3M 300MP+ high-tack acrylic adhesive and a relatively thick 7 mil adhesive layer.
Because there is no PET, tissue or foam carrier, the adhesive can conform directly to the bonding surfaces. This makes the product particularly useful for rough, textured and irregular surfaces where maintaining intimate adhesive contact is important.
Compared with thinner adhesive transfer tapes, the 0.18 mm adhesive layer can provide additional conformability for certain foam, gasket, textile and lamination applications.
For tape converters, the carrierless construction also makes 9775WL+ suitable for slitting, laminating and precision die-cutting.
Installation Guide
1. Clean the Surface
Remove dust, oil, grease, moisture and other contaminants from both bonding surfaces.
2. Prepare the Tape
Cut the tape to the required size or use a custom die-cut adhesive component.
3. Apply the First Side
Remove the release liner and carefully apply the exposed adhesive to the first substrate.
4. Apply Pressure
Apply firm, uniform pressure across the bonding area to maximize adhesive contact.
5. Remove the Remaining Liner
Carefully remove the liner from the exposed adhesive surface.
6. Position the Second Substrate
Align the second substrate accurately and apply it to the adhesive.
7. Apply Firm Pressure
Press the entire assembly evenly to establish intimate contact.
8. Allow Bond Development
Allow adequate dwell time before exposing the assembly to maximum mechanical or environmental loads. Adhesive bond strength generally increases with time after application.
Storage
For best performance:
- Store in the original packaging.
- Keep in a clean and dry environment.
- Protect from direct sunlight.
- Avoid excessive heat and humidity.
- Keep away from dust, oil and chemical contamination.
- Keep the liner intact until the tape is ready for use.
- Follow the latest 3M technical documentation for shelf-life requirements.
FAQ
What is 3M™ Adhesive Transfer Tape 9775WL+?
3M™ 9775WL+ is a carrierless adhesive transfer tape using 3M™ Adhesive 300MP+ acrylic adhesive. It is designed for bonding and laminating foam, fabric, plastics, wood, rubber and other materials.
Does 9775WL+ have a carrier?
No. It is a carrierless adhesive transfer tape. The adhesive is coated directly onto a release liner.
How thick is 3M™ 9775WL+?
The adhesive layer is approximately 0.18 mm (7 mil) thick.
What adhesive does 9775WL+ use?
It uses 3M™ Adhesive 300MP+, a high-tack acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive.
Can 9775WL+ bond foam?
Yes. Foam bonding, foam lamination and gasket fabrication are suitable applications.
Can 9775WL+ be used for fabric and textile bonding?
Yes. The product can be used for fabric, textile and felt lamination applications.
Is 9775WL+ suitable for rough surfaces?
Its relatively thick carrierless adhesive layer can conform to textured and irregular surfaces, making it suitable for certain rough-surface bonding applications.
Can 9775WL+ bond plastic?
Yes. It can be used with various plastic substrates, although actual adhesion depends on the specific plastic and surface condition.
Can 9775WL+ be die-cut?
Yes. Adhesive transfer tapes can be converted into custom die-cut adhesive components. This makes 9775WL+ suitable for industrial converting applications.
What is the difference between 9775WL+ and 9773WL+?
Both products use 3M™ Adhesive 300MP+, but 9775WL+ has a thicker 7 mil (0.18 mm) adhesive layer, making it more suitable for applications where additional adhesive thickness and conformability are beneficial.
What is the difference between adhesive transfer tape and double-coated tape?
Adhesive transfer tape has no carrier. A conventional double-coated tape contains a carrier such as PET, tissue, nonwoven or foam between two adhesive layers.
