Benefits
Designed for Low Surface Energy Plastics
LSE-160WF delivers exceptional adhesion to difficult substrates such as PP, PE, TPO and TPE, eliminating primer in many applications and simplifying manufacturing.
Superior Gap Filling
The 1.6 mm thick acrylic foam easily compensates for uneven surfaces, manufacturing tolerances and thermal expansion between different materials.
Permanent Structural Bonding
Replaces screws, rivets, spot welds and liquid adhesives while providing a clean, seamless appearance.
Outstanding Outdoor Durability
Maintains reliable bond strength under UV exposure, humidity, water, solvents and temperature cycling.
Waterproof Sealing
The closed-cell acrylic foam creates an effective seal against moisture, dust and contaminants.
Faster Manufacturing
Pressure-sensitive adhesive technology eliminates curing time and reduces assembly costs.

- Precision die-cutting compatible
- OEM converting services available
Installation Guide
- Clean all bonding surfaces using isopropyl alcohol (IPA).
- Ensure substrates are clean, dry and free from grease or dust.
- Primer is not required for many LSE plastic applications, although testing is recommended.
- Apply firm, even pressure across the entire bonding area.
- Approximately 50% bond strength develops after 20 minutes, 90% after 24 hours, and 100% after 72 hours at room temperature.
- Validate performance before mass production.
Storage
Store the tape in its original packaging.
Recommended storage conditions:
- Temperature: 16°C–27°C (60°F–80°F)
- Relative Humidity: 40%–60%
- Store in a cool, dry location.
- Avoid direct sunlight and excessive heat.
- Store rolls horizontally whenever possible.
- Follow FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory management.
- Shelf life: 24 months under recommended storage conditions.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is 3M™ VHB™ LSE-160WF used for?
It is designed for permanent structural bonding of low surface energy plastics including PP, PE, TPO, TPE and Nylon in automotive, appliance, electronics, transportation and industrial manufacturing.
How thick is LSE-160WF?
The nominal thickness is 1.6 mm (62 mil).
Does LSE-160WF require Primer 94?
In many applications, no primer is required, helping reduce manufacturing steps and costs. Application testing is recommended for critical assemblies.
Which plastics can it bond?
It is optimized for PP, PE, TPO, TPE, PA (Nylon) and many composite materials while also bonding metals, painted surfaces and glass.
Is it suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. It provides excellent resistance to UV radiation, moisture, weathering, solvents and temperature cycling.
What is the difference between LSE-160WF and LSE-110WF?
- LSE-160WF: 1.6 mm thickness for greater gap filling and stress distribution.
- LSE-110WF: 1.1 mm thickness for applications requiring a thinner bond line.
Both use the same modified acrylic adhesive and are engineered specifically for low surface energy plastics.
